How To Use Epoxy Floor Coating
On March 9, 2021 by admin
If you are looking for a floor coating that can work for your garage, you should be looking for some form of epoxy floor coating. Garage floors can be drab, gray, and most importantly, easily stained and damaged by your car or the elements. A epoxy floor coating can not only give your floor a showroom look, but can also make sure that foot traffic and car traffic won’t cause damage to your garage.
But once you have your epoxy floor coating, you need to figure out how to apply it. Epoxy floor products are very easy to apply, and you just need a good brush to get started.
Preparing Epoxy Floor Coating
First, do a deep clean of your garage floor and get it looking like a clean concrete slab. Remove any old paint, stains, grease marks, and other debris with a degreaser, scrub brush, and an electric floor scrubber. Once the floor is all sudsy, then you can vacuum up the water with a wet or dry vacuum cleaner.
Next, you need to etch the concrete surface, and cover the floor with a 10-to-1 mixture of water and muriatic acid. After the mixture has been poured, rinsed, and allowed to set overnight, then you can start painting on the epoxy.
Applying the Coating
Mix the epoxy resin and hardener together and make sure they are mixed thoroughly. Then you can start painting the floor with a brush and a roller. Paint one coat, section by section, and then apply the second coat to your flooring afterward. Then, leave the epoxy flooring to sit undisturbed for at least a week to allow it to dry and set.
Once the epoxy dries, you will have a perfectly coated garage floor that can withstand anything the world can throw at it!
